TCS Full Form In GST, What Does TCS Stand For?

What Is The Full Form Of TCS In GST?

TCS full form in GST is Tax Collection At Source. TCS is applicable when an e-commerce operator provides an online platform for the supply of goods or services or facilitates the overall funnel. Under the GST regime, TCS is collected at the rate of 1% of the net value of taxable supplies made through the e-commerce platform. The e-commerce operator is required to collect TCS on behalf of the government and deposit it with the appropriate tax authorities.

What Else Should You Know About TCS?

So let’s say someone buys a Jacket for 1000 rupees through your e-commerce platform. You’ll need to collect 10 rupees in TCS from the payment and send it to the government. The person who bought the shirt will still pay the full 1000 rupees, but 10 rupees of that will go to the government as TCS. It’s important to note that TCS is different from the regular GST (Goods and Services Tax) that people pay on the things they buy. GST is a tax on the actual goods or services being purchased, while TCS is a tax on the transaction itself (i.e. the act of buying something through an e-commerce platform).
